About Us
For Melody Noel, music is a life force—a divine gift passed down through generations and now channeled toward eternal purpose. Born into a family of mariachis spanning seven generations, with the earliest known musician dating back to the 1700s, Melody grew up immersed in sound, rhythm, and tradition. While deeply rooted in Mexican folk music, she ultimately became the first in her family to step beyond that genre, forging a path that would carry her voice into pop culture and, later, into modern worship.
Melody began her professional journey in pop music as a member of the teen girl group Runway MMC. This early experience introduced her to the American music industry at a formative level, where she worked with Grammy-nominated producer Alex Cantrall—known for JoJo’s “Leave (Get Out)”—and Brandon Howard, who collaborated with Ne-Yo on “I Ain’t Gotta Tell You.” Runway MMC’s debut EP, Forever Yours (2008), marked Melody’s first commercial release and set the stage for her future as a songwriter.
Driven to refine her craft, Melody pursued higher education at New York University’s prestigious Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. While studying songwriting, production, and the music business, she created a class project EP titled The Living Room Sessions. The project captured the attention of Imagem Music, leading to a publishing deal in 2012—two years prior to her graduation in 2014.
After relocating to Los Angeles, Melody established herself as a sought-after songwriter, toplining songs across pop and electronic genres. Her credits include “I Don’t Wanna Love You” by Prince Fox (Casablanca Records/UMG), “In My Head (feat. Georgia Ku)” by Party Favor (Mad Decent), and “Paper Roses” by Kura (Spinnin’ Records). Her ability to merge emotional depth with commercial appeal earned her consistent placements and industry respect.
A pivotal moment came in 2016 when Melody co-wrote “Love Make the World Go Round,” recorded by Jennifer Lopez and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Released exclusively on iTunes to benefit victims of the Pulse nightclub tragedy in Orlando, Florida, the song peaked at No. 72 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 9 on the Digital Songs chart. The experience reshaped Melody’s understanding of music as a tool for healing, unity, and purpose.
Soon after, Melody felt a clear calling to write songs not for personal recognition, but to glorify God and serve the Church. In 2017, she co-founded Influence Music, a worship collective that quickly gained international reach. In 2018, she helped lead the release of Touching Heaven, which debuted at No. 1 on iTunes and No. 2 on Billboard. Her single “Mistakes” charted on Billboard Christian Airplay for 20 weeks. In 2024, Day & Night, an album Melody executive produced, was honored as Worship Album of the Year at the We Love Christian Music Awards in Nashville.
Today, Melody remains deeply active as an artist, continuing to write, record, and release music independently and in collaboration with churches across the United States. Her songs—whether shared in congregational worship settings or on streaming platforms—carry a consistent heart to glorify God and edify the body of Christ.
As her calling expanded beyond writing and leading, Melody also began investing intentionally in mentorship and discipleship. This led to the creation of Awaken Music Academy, an online music school orange california based in Orange, California. The academy reflects Melody’s belief that musical excellence and spiritual formation should grow together, equipping musicians to serve with both skill and conviction.
To date, Melody’s work as a writer and artist has amassed more than 228 million streams worldwide. Whether collaborating with pop artists, partnering with churches, releasing independently, or teaching through her music school orange california, the banner over her life and work remains the same: Soli Deo Glory, meaning glory to God alone.
